SOLD!!! – 92 Nissan 240SX SE Coupe

Update as of 10/8/19 at 9PM:  The car was only listed for 5 hours and it is now sold and on to it’s new home!

I am deciding to let go of my 1992 Nissan 240SX “S13” SE Coupe.  It’s got 199,735 original miles.

I attempted to sell this thing back in Feb. 2011, but after a few weak offers, I decided to keep it.  Since then, the car has been parked up in my driveway, where it’s just sat and been neglected.  It was running great, and I physically backed it into the driveway to where it sits now, but that was the last time it was started up or ran.  Mileage is still the same as it was in 2011.  Since my last for sale post, I need to add that the gas tank will need to be replaced, which I already have sitting inside the trunk of the car, waiting to be put in.  The car is lowered, and as the car sat for a few years, air leaked out of the rear left tire, causing the car to rest on the tank, and poking some sort of hole, which made all the gas slowly leak out in my driveway.  I picked up a replacement tank from an S13 convertible (same), so you won’t need to purchase one.  Other than that, the car just needs to be brought back to life by someone who wants a project car.  All of the stuff you will read about this car below, is exactly the condition and care it was in before I just parked it, and a complete listing of all of the maintenance and upgrades I’ve done to the car.  Most were the common issues you’d find with S13’s, but keep in mind, this was like 8 years ago, so expect some aging with the paint, rubber, etc.  Come and take a look at it, and take it off my hands for potentially a steal, if all that’s needed is the tank and flushing of all the fluids.  You’ll just need to bring a trailer to tow it home, preferably a flatbed due to the ride height.  It’s also listed now as non-op, so no smog will be done on it, and you’ll need to get new plates for it, as I’m keeping my vanity plates that are on it.  AAA said new plates are issued once it’s taken out of non-op and registered.  These cars are becoming damn near non-existent now.  Especially a 92 Coupe SE with a KA24DE DOHC original motor with less than 200k original miles on it.  (Scroll to the end of the gallery of photos for the recent pics of the car).

Here’s all of the info I posted back in Feb. 2011:

Let me put my mileage into perspective, which I can show proof on my service receipts, which all work is done by our good friends at B&D Automotive in Glendora.  Car was last smogged on 1/9/11, and mileage was 199,732.  On 1/5/09, my mileage was recorded at 199,691 (only 44 miles in two years!!!).  On 4/7/08, my mileage was recorded at 199,526 (165 miles in 9 months!!!).  And pretty much the only time this car saw service, was to make it pass smog!  That’s it.  Why did I hang on to it?  For insurance purposes.  This car is cheap to own, and insure.  I am the 3rd owner (but technically the 2nd, since the person I bought it off of, got the title transferred from his brother, the original owner).  I’ve honestly put more money into keeping it legit, and smoggable, than I’ve spent modding it.  It passes smog easily, and I just had to do a “test only”, a few weeks ago for registration.  I have had the fuel pump seal replaced, the filler neck, and the send and return hoses as well, which are all prone to rot on 240’s.  The fuel pump has been replaced, as well as the fuel filter upgraded to a Z32, and a new soft line added.  The clutch for the radiator fan has been changed, so there’s no more jet engine sounds from the engine bay.  The timing chain upper and side guides were removed, as well as all new gaskets installed on the head.  Plugs and wires as well.  The radiator was replaced by my bro, right when I bought the car, so it’s only a few years old.  I have an upgraded PS line on order, which will be installed by the time you buy the car.  It leaks, and thus my power steering makes a loud noise when turning, which is why the axle and steering rack are greasy and dirty (also a common 240sx issue).  The transmission was replaced shortly before I bought the car, as well as the clutch.  The owner said it was cheaper to replace than to rebuild, which is true.  I barely put any miles on the car, so it still drives very well, and there is absolutely no slippage of the clutch.  Engine compression is good, and acceleration is strong as well.

The body has less dings than your average 240sx, and even far less dents!  Headlamps work perfectly, and still open and close smoothly.  Taillights have never been removed, so there is no leaking into the trunk!  The window rubbers and moldings are starting to crack, from sitting in my driveway for a few years without driving it, but actually the car is 19 years old, so rubber replacement is due.  I found a wingless trunk at the junkyard, so I spray painted it with color-matched (at the time) paint, that I ordered online, but if you want the original trunk with wing, I still have it as well, just bring a truck to take it in.  The paint looks nicer on the original one!  The rear bumper is showing sun fade as well.  The wheels are the original aluminum SE wheels, with some old rubber on them at the moment, and the suspension has been upgraded.  Nothing special, just Godspeed fully adjustable coilovers, and swaybars up front and in the rear.  There’s also upgraded beefy front Tension Rods (no name silver), DMAX rear Tension Rods, RUCA’s (not sure of brand, light green?), Megan rear endlinks.  I’ve tried to take pics of them, but the car is low, and I can’t really get good shots.  The interior is untouched, except for an alarm I installed, and the upgraded Pioneer speakers I installed in all 4 locations.  I properly bypassed the factory amps in the rear, and all you need is a headunit.  Aftermarket radio harness is ready to be connected to one.  Original harness is still intact, never cut.  Antenna motor is present, but not connected, because the last owner broke it.  That’s why I plugged the hole, and installed an aftermarket window antenna, but if you can find a replacement gear for the antenna, then you can install the original power antenna.

That’s all I can think of for now.  Hit me up with any questions, or offers, and please pass this along, and retweet to anyone who is interested.  Thanks!

I am wondering if the 240 is still for sale and how much you are asking for it. I see that the posts are about a year old, but it is worth a try to me. I had a 92 240 the same color as this one as my first car.
